March 2025 Newsletter – The third updating newsletter and update of the associations work and upcoming events. This was emailed to members and distributed to all other addresses in the association area.
This month is mostly about the bin proposals – Communal Bins or Gull proof Sacks
If you haven’t already, it’s time to give your views to the Council.
Recycling Pilot Success The Green Gull Proof Sacks trial in Northumberland Street and Abercromby Place has been a great success. In the 10 streets taking part, recycling has increased by 250% and streets are clean with no permanent impact. The system works for New Town homes.
Support Sacks to safeguard the historic heritage of
the New Town. Residents have received a letter from the Council explaining the proposed changes and recommending Gull proof sacks for Northumberland Street, Nelson Street and Abercromby Place.
Final decisions have still to be made. Councillors will decide at a meeting in May or June.
Responses to the consultation will be a big factor.
