Some residents received a letter from The Forge explaining about the road closures and parking restrictions to facilitate the filming on location in Nelson Street.
Our production has been scouting Edinburgh for some months now, as a result a number of locations in the area as well as Northumberland & Nelson Street have been chosen as locations to be filmed at.
We are now in a position to issue a letter with firm dates and times and other controls/suspensions that we have been working to.
Our intended filming times on the closed section of the area is between 15:00 and 18:00 with an intention to reopen the road and release the parking at 20:00 on Friday 6th September 2024.
Our scene involves two characters in two separate scenes walking, hurrying to a location unbeknownst to us, we will have characters in period costume travelling along the road by horse and carriage, interaction with our characters.
We will be filming at Northumberland and Nelson Street on Friday 6th September. On this day we will also be filming at Drummond Place (north side) in the morning and will be moving to Northumberland and Nelson Street from 12 midday to dress some period appropriate street dressing. Currently we have planned a closure on the north side of Drummond Place from the morning through to the evening on the 6th September, to aid this we have planned Stop/Go traffic lights on the south side to ease and control congestion.
At around 13:00 on Friday 6th September we would look to close the south end of Nelson Street halfway down from the junction of Northumberland Street to lay ground cover on the tarmac. To help clear the filming area of cars we are looking to suspend the parking from 13:00 on Friday-please see the affected bays on the plan overleaf. At 15:00 we would then introduce a road closure from Nelson Street on to Northumberland Street as shown on the closure plan overleaf. We would then reopen the road as soon as filming is completed or at the very latest 20:00.
We have successfully contacted Northumberland and Nelson Street Association and have shared preliminary and early information; We will continue to work and inform the association regards filming in the area. Alongside working with the Northumberland and Nelson Street Association, we have been working with Edinburgh City Council to seek permission and permits for all suspensions and traffic management plans. As plans progress, we will notify all appropriate bodies and residents.
