In this post we continue with our series of histories involving the Northumberland Street area, Jim/Morag Smith and Joan Dow have kindly lent the Newsletter a manuscript from which the following extract has been taken.
“The Reminiscences are those of Mrs Leven, born in 1800, daughter of Rev. James Wemyss of Burntisland. They were told in 1891 to her daughter, Christina Charles Leven. They passed in due course to James Morrison Wemyss. This extract is made from a copy of the original Reminiscences supplied by Robert Wemyss of Durie House, Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire. Told by James Morrison Wemyss of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Dominion of Canada dated the first day of January in the year of our Lord 1909.”
The records show the transfers and sales of the property and its parts from 1808 through to 1952.
