The committee of the association had applied in April to have a representation on the local Newtown & Broughton Community Council [NTBCC]. This has now been approved by the Edinburgh City Council who has control over the community council regulations.
Our representative will be Joseph McAdam, Committee Member who will attend the regular meetings of the NTBCC and report back to the committee and members where required.
Importantly this allows us to be aware of issues in the wider Newtown and Broughton area and to have input to the community councils decisions and feedback to the city council. The community council have sub-committees’ which deal with:
- Transport
- Planning
- Licensing
- Environment
- Culture and Communities
The City of Edinburgh council has to consult with the community councils about the changes proposed and planned for the city, such as Transport, Development Plans, Planning and Licensing. Also the Communal Bin Review.
