Annual General Meeting – 2022

Notice to All Members and Neighbours

Annual General Meeting and Party will be held on Sunday the

4th September 2022.

The meeting will be held in

St Vincent’s Church, Howe Street

You are cordially invited to attend the Annual AGM and Party of the NNSA to be held at St Vincent’s Church, Howe Street

AGM from 2.300pm to 3.30pm – then Party from 3.30 to 5pm

Sunday 4th September 2022

This is your opportunity to hear the latest news about what is happening in our neighbourhood and express your views on some of the decisions affecting the association and World Heritage site and the city as a whole.

We would appreciate if you could indicate your attendance and pay your membership dues prior to the meeting. There is no requirement to be a member to attend the AGM this year, but we hope you will support the Association by joining. Subscriptions are £15 p.a. per household.

Change Of Venue

This is a change from previous venues, but it does enable us to continue with the informal party, which has been a much-loved feature of NNSA AGMs over many years.

(Our long-standing previous venue is no longer available to us. We are very grateful to St Vincent’s for hosting our community event.)

As well as the formal proceedings we will have a focus on Green Energy Efficiency – which is high in everyone’s thinking just now. If any of our members have recent experience with innovative green energy adaptions, including innovative window treatments which meet heritage requirements, heat pumps or other innovations please get in touch. We would love to be able to tap into the expertise of our members! We will also be taking people’s views on traffic issues.

Please put the date in your diaries. 4 September 2.30pm
(with party from 3.30pm)

Communal Bins

While the Council is still committed to proceeding with Communal Bins, we have been successful (working with the other New Town Street Associations) in persuading them to pause and consider alternatives. The Council has commissioned a report looking at alternatives for the New Town and we suggested they extended the study beyond underground solutions which are likely to be costly and impractical. Alongside this they also agreed to carry out a pilot looking at an alternative to the red boxes, specifically a recycling equivalent to the Gull-proof sack. If this can successfully manage and increase recycling we may be able to persuade the Council to keep our doorstep collection.

We will need volunteers to help with distributing information and the new bags and I hope people will support us in demonstrating to the Council that an alternative can work. We will provide more details at the AGM in September.
